District Accused of Defying Supreme Court, Hiding Student Gender Transitions
What Alinsky tactic is being used

Rule 3
“Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.”
The fight has been moved onto ground where an ordinary parent cannot check the claim. The district's answer to parents, per reporting on the complaint, is that its policy is required by the state — while the suing lawyers say no such mandate exists, only optional 2018 guidance districts adopted voluntarily as 'Policy 5756.' The board president's line at the June meeting, that the Supreme Court's Mirabelli decision 'is not binding on public school districts in New Jersey,' works the same way: it is a technical assertion about emergency-docket precedent that stops a lay parent cold.
Counter-Rule 3 · Preparation and Width
Prepare the unfamiliar ground before you are dragged onto it. "I don't know, I'll find out and come back" beats an improvised answer.
Do not argue the point at the microphone from conviction. Ask, in writing, for the specific citation: 'Which state statute, regulation or written directive requires this policy? Please send the citation and the district counsel's written opinion.' Then read the actual documents — the district's numbered policy and the state guidance — before the next meeting, and be willing to say 'I don't know; I'll find out and come back.'
Rule 11
“If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.”
Both sides are pushing a negative as hard as it will go. The plaintiffs' framing — 'open defiance of the law of the land' — describes a March 2, 2026 per curiam order that vacated a Ninth Circuit stay only as to certain California parent plaintiffs, denied relief otherwise, and decided nothing on the merits. The opposing framing, that this is 'Christian nationalist' targeting of children, is the mirror image. Either overclaim, repeated by a reader at a podium, is the one thing an administrator can correct on the spot.
Counter-Rule 11 · Proportional Truth
Refuse to overclaim, even where it would help. One exaggeration hands the other side the only weapon that works permanently.
Read the order itself (supremecourt.gov, No. 25A810) before you quote it, and describe it exactly: interim relief, a California case, appeal still pending in the Ninth Circuit. Say 'the Supreme Court signalled parents are likely to succeed,' not 'the Supreme Court has ruled and you are defying it.' Refusing the stronger sentence costs you nothing this month and keeps your credibility for the vote that matters later.
Rule 13
“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
The dispute is being narrowed onto one person. The board president is named as an individual defendant, and a single sentence she spoke at a June meeting has been quoted in the complaint and in at least four outlets as the proof of defiance. That is target-picked, frozen, personalized — and it invites readers in other districts to go hunting for their own named villain rather than reading their own policy.
Counter-Rule 13 · Radical Solidarity
Stand publicly with whoever has been singled out. Isolation is the whole mechanism; refusing it disarms the tactic.
Keep your letters and your two minutes at the podium aimed at the policy number and the record, never at a person's character; ask about votes and dates, not motives. If a counselor or teacher in your district is singled out by name — by either side — say publicly that the argument is about the written policy the board adopted, and stand with them on that. Refuse to sign or share anything that circulates an individual employee's name.
