West Bend Man Arrested for Setting Fire to Church Crucifix
A 50-year-old West Bend, Wisconsin man was arrested last week after allegedly setting fire to a crucifix inside Pilgrim Lutheran Church, according to Greater Milwaukee Today. The West Bend Police Department says the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, when officers received a report of a man inside the church attempting to ignite an object. Church staff confronted the man, who then left the building; officers located him a short distance away and took him into custody without incident. Investigators determined he used a lighter to set the crucifix ablaze, causing minor damage that did not spread beyond the object. No injuries were reported. The man was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of arson and recklessly endangering safety. As of the report, the investigation remains ongoing, and no motive has been publicly established by police or the outlet.
