Washington Ballot Initiative Would Restore Parental Notice on Student Care
The Center Square reports that Washington's Nov. 3, 2026 ballot will include Initiative 001, a parental bill of rights backed by the conservative group Let's Go Washington. If passed, I-001 would require schools to notify parents before a student receives non-emergency medical services or mental health counseling on campus. The measure responds to House Bill 1296, passed in 2025, which amended an earlier voter-approved parental rights initiative by restricting parental access to student medical records and prioritizing what lawmakers called student privacy and 'inclusive learning environments.' Suzanne Gallagher of Parents Rights in Education told The Center Square that under current guidance, school staff are instructed to use a student's original name and pronouns when speaking with parents even while using a different name and pronouns with the student at school regarding gender transition. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction has sent letters warning districts that resist the state notification restrictions that their funding could be cut. Democratic lawmakers refused to hold a hearing on I-001, sending it directly to voters this fall.

Why Bible-Believing Christians Should Care
Scripture places children under the authority and instruction of their parents, not the state or school employees. This story documents a policy in which school staff are reportedly directed to actively conceal a child's in-school gender transition from parents — using different names and pronouns depending on the audience. That is not a neutral privacy protection; it is institutionalized deception aimed at severing parental knowledge of decisions with lasting spiritual and physical consequences for a child. Christians should recognize this as a direct jurisdictional conflict between the God-given authority of parents and an expanding administrative state willing to threaten district funding to enforce its position.
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. — Luke 12:2

From the book
We have to distinguish between the two. Legitimate expertise is technical competence exercised under moral authority, like a mathematics teacher explaining algebra. False expertise is ideology wearing the costume of science in order to usurp moral authority, like a counselor telling a child that his parents are unsafe because they hold biblical views on gender.
